Nurses Office: Attention all juniors – you are required by the State of Illinois to have a second meningitis vaccination on or after your 16th birthday to start your senior year. If you are 16 years old please remind your parents to schedule an appointment for your shot, then turn in proof of your shot to the nurse’s office by the end of May. You cannot attend back to school week, get an ID, or a parking pass without proof of this shot. So get your meningitis shot as soon as possible! Come see your nurses if you have any questions.
Senior Class Picnic: The Senior Class Picnic will be Friday, May 17th at Hampe Park from 10:00am-12:30pm. Everyone is welcome and it is free. Bring money if you want to buy food from Chick-fil-A or Brick Pizza. There will be games, music and time to sign yearbooks.
The Write Place: Attention sophomores and juniors: Are you looking to become a Tutor at The Write Place? Do you have an interest in helping people and a passion for writing? Now is the right time! Stop by Room 1406 to pick up an application to be part of the The Write Place! All students are welcome to apply! Please submit your applications to your English teachers, or Ms. Giza by Monday May 13! We are excited for you to be part of our team! Go Panthers!
Cheerleading: Cheerleading tryouts will be taking place on May 7th, 8th, and 9th! Please pick up the GBN Cheer Tryout Information from Coach Dugan. Be sure to sign up using the Google Form prior to tryouts. Hope to see you there!
Swimming: Attention all girls interested in swimming this fall. There will be an informational meeting for parents and swimmers at Fountain View Recreation Center at 6pm on Monday, May 13th. We will discuss the upcoming season and spirit wear and suit order forms will be handed out. Hope to see you all there!
The Quad: Attention all sophomores and juniors who love math – are you looking to become a math tutor in the Quad next year? Have you finished Algebra 2 with Trig, and will be in a math class of Pre-Calc or higher next year? Do enjoy helping others and want to improve your college transcripts by serving as a peer tutor? You can pick up an application from your math teacher, or from Mrs. Wood in the Quad, room 1410! Please turn in your applications to Mrs. Wood in room 1410, the Quad, by Friday, May 17th! We would love to have you as part of our team!
Student Council: It is time to pick the theme to Homecoming 2019. Do you want superheroes, nature, or space? Go to bit.ly/GBNHOCO19 to select the theme for next year.
Boys Track and Field: On Friday, the team competed in the 87th annual DuPage County track invite. Congratulations to the athletes who scored varsity points; Xavier Curtis, Matt Solucha, Ivan Martinez, Ifham Haq, Brandon Smiley, Ethan Schwartz, Ryan Treanor, Marat Schatz, Haren Patel, Maurice Abdalla, and TyRay Wilkerson. On the fresh./soph. level, congrats to these athletes who scored team points; CJ Fields, Barat Kush, Jason Flores, Daniel Gallegos, Tyler Craig, Dylan Elmore, Aiden Moran, Cole Rinenbach, Dominic Kundrotas, and Uzair Ali. This Friday the boys compete at Lake Park in the DuKane Championship.
Girls Track and Field: The girls track and field team competed in the inaugural DKC track and field championship last Friday. Varsity team finished 7th, led by top point scorers Lili Guy and Megan Kalemba. Congratulations to Lili Guy for earning ALL-CONFERENCE honors in Triple Jump with her first-place finish! Our JV team also finished 7th, led by top point scorers Taylor Finke and Riley Hernandez. Our top finishers were Taylor Finke in the long jump (2nd place) and the 4x800m Relay of Bridget Ulbert, Riley Hernandez, Emily Sulocha and Taylor DeStefano who placed 3rd. GBN will host a Sectional Meet on Thursday, May 9th. Come out and cheer on our girls as they compete for a spot in the State Track and Field Meet.
Yearbook: Yearbook Distribution Day will be on Monday, May 13th. Please bring your student ID to the North Cafeteria after school on Monday, May 13th to pick up your paid/preordered yearbook. You may only pick up your own and you must have your student ID. If you are unable to pick up your yearbook after school on May 13th, you may bring your ID to the Bookstore during your lunch period starting on Tuesday, May 14th. Please contact Ms. Alvarez or Mrs. Wilkens with any questions.
