Little Raiders Preschool

Little Raiders Preschool

Thank you for your interest in the Little Raiders Preschool Program here at Glenbard South High School! We would be so excited to welcome your child(ren)! The main purpose of our preschool is to provide a unique hands-on learning experience for your child(ren) while providing our high school students with a foundational understanding of children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 to 5 years old. Our goal is to provide meaningful academic, experiential, and social opportunities for your preschooler(s) that will allow your child(ren) to grow in their ability to cooperate with others while adapting to a school atmosphere. Meanwhile, our high school students will be teaching, observing, learning and loving your child(ren). It is a win-win situation!

PRESCHOOL DATES: Preschool will run both semesters in the 2022-2023 school year. Fall session will TENTATIVELY begin on September 22 and run through December 8, 2022. Spring session will TENTATIVELY run from February 9 through May 9, 2023. The preschool will be held in Room 110, a Family and Consumer Science classroom equipped especially for our preschoolers. Preschool will run from 9:25 – 11:50 am on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Because our high school has altered class schedules occasionally, a complete calendar will be provided to you with specific dates and any deviations from our normal schedule.

DROP OFF/PICK UP: Please be prompt! Drop off is at 9:25 am and our high school students will meet you at your car outside of Door 1. Our students and myself or our preschool aide will be outside to help get your child(ren) out of your car. There is no need for you to leave your vehicle. If you arrive later than 9:30 and we are no longer outside of Door 1, please enter through Door 4, sign in, and security can call us to send a student up to bring your child to Room 110. Dismissal is at 11:50 am. Please be parked outside Door 1 no later than 11:50 am so we can bring your child(ren) to your car. Since the high school students (and myself) have other classes they are coming from and going to, being on time is essential to our program running smoothly! If anyone other than yourself, or the person whom you have indicated as an emergency contact, is going to pick up your child, please let me know AHEAD OF TIME if possible and preferably in writing.

ATTENDANCE: Please hold attendance as a priority, but keep your child(ren) home if they are sick. You may call my direct line, 630-942-6608, to alert us if your child will not be in school on any given day. Little Raiders Preschool Application Form

Once your completed application is received, we will notify you. Please be patient if you send your documents over the summer, as I will not be in every week to retrieve my mail. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected] as I will regularly check this over the summer.

A few other important notes:

  • Children must be potty trained and be able to communicate in English for safety reasons.
  • Please do not dress your child(ren) in clothes that cannot get dirty. Sometimes we play in the sand table, water table, on scooters, and use paint and markers. Although our materials are water based, even washable paints, crayons, and markers sometimes stain.
  • Please send your child(ren) with a backpack or tote bag each day in order to take home their projects.
  • We ask that your child always have a change of clothes for any mishaps that may occur. Please either leave some here with us in their cubby, or keep some in their backpack at all times.
  • Please check their bags daily for any notes we may with for you to read, as well as the email you gave us in your contact information regularly.
  • We will try to hold an Open House prior to the first day of preschool in the fall to allow your child to acclimate to our facilities. The date is yet to be determined.
  • Preschoolers should eat a good breakfast since we do not have snack time. We are looking forward to working with your child(ren)!
