TESTING INFORMATION

2012-2013 COLLEGE TESTING PROGRAM DATES
Students are encouraged to apply for the ACT and SAT online.
SAT applicants needing special accomodations should visit www.collegeborad.com/ssd/student/index.html to find out about the request process. Paper application forms are available in the Guidance Office and must be postmarked by the closing date listed. Always double check exact dates and costs, include check and a photograph with application to correct address listed in the instructions.
ACT applicants can register for special accomodations and standyby testing online.

ACT
(American College Testing Program)
The ACT is required by most state supported colleges and universities, and is accepted by all four-year colleges and universitites in the United States. Check the ACT website to see if the colleges you are considering require or recommend the ACT Writing Test.
To register for the ACT online, find more information or take a practice test; go to www.actstudent.org.
Glenbard South will be a Test Center for the ACT on April 13, 2013.
The test center code for Glenbard South is 5552. See the ACT website for other test locations.
Juniors at Glenbard South take the ACT on April 23, 2013 as part of the Prairie State Exam. This is not a National ACT testing date, but scores can be sent to colleges, universities and the NCAA. There is no cost to the students for the Prairie State Exam. The exam will not include the Writing portion. Students will register for this exam during school as part of a regularly scheduled class.
College-bound juniors are recommended to take the February, April, or June test. These are also the qualifying test dates for the Illinois State Scholar Program. To be considered as a State Scholar: complete the Online Registration or the Registration Folder - your score will be automatically sent to ISSC if you are an Illinois State resident and answer “yes” to the Resident of This State portion of the registration form.
The County Scholarship Program for Children of Veterans uses ACT scores.
SAT
(Scholastic Aptitude Test)
(SAT and/or Subject or Language w/Listening)
The SAT, Subject and Language Tests with Listening are administered on all dates with the exception of March 9. *ONLY the SAT is scheduled for March 9; there will be no Subject or Language tests administered on that date. Students will be required to preregister for the SAT and SAT Subject Test, standby (walk-in) testing will no longer be permitted.
Registration Deadlines expire at 11:59pm Eastern TIme
Some colleges and universities require the SAT scores. Consult the college admissions information to determine test preference.
College-bound juniors are recommended to take the March, May, or June test.

The PSAT/NMSQT is used for practice and self-evaluation as well as for scholarship purposes.
Juniors take the test to qualify for National Merit Scholar.

All Glenbard South sophomores take the PLAN test on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
All Glenbard South freshmen take a practice PLAN test on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
The PLAN helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success. It is a comprehensive resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years.
PLAN can help students who are college-bound as well as those who are likely to enter the workforce directly after high school.
AP (Advanced Placement)
The AP is used for establishing advanced placement privileges in college and possibly earning college credits.
Glenbard South WILL be a test center for the advanced placement examinations.
